Special car insurance to go to rocky point?

we are going to rocky point this wkend and i needed to know if we needed a special type of insurance or anything like that? i know we dont need passports but is there any other documentation we will need?

Yes although it is not mandatory it is cheap and highly recommended .  Mexico simply does not recognize foreign car insurance.

The rule that currently apply to that area are about to change.  You should get a passport soon because soon you will need one at all entry points' "Land sea and air"
