  1. Arc-fault breakers are designed to detect a possible fire causing ark and turn the power off before it actually causes a fire.  This is usually because of a faulty extension cord or appliance cord that is arcing.  Try noticing what you have turned on or used just as the breaker trips and turns off.  This may help you locate the exact problem.  You can also unplug all items from every outlet to see if this stops them from tripping.  These breakers are not just designed to trip when pulling to much power through them.   They trip at the slightest arc.  You may have a bad light fixture that is creating an arc.

  2. it could be the breckers.. areat  fault  here, or the wireing but as you get power, more  than likely the breckers

un do every thing you have pluged  in . then re plug every thign in   again , when it trips you will find out  what casueing this . maybe a bad wire in a light ....

then call out the guy that wired it , and tell him to fix the problem  or you will sue him  ..........

  3. tommy, jason, and sparky are right on.  When will idiots that do not know what they are talking about stop answering questions.  Are they just trying to get a point or two?  Electricity is not something to give advice about if you are clueless.

  4. Your electrician installed arc-fault breakers, they are required to bring your house up to code, they were added to the code because of people using electric blankets and space heaters in their bedrooms,

The reason that they could be tripping is they might not have been installed properly or there is a nail that is nailed into your wire, that is also one of the benefits of them.  My advice would be to have the electrician come back out and show him exactly what it is doing,

  5. Sounds more like the electrician is an idiot... even easy trip breakers should not trip that easily. I would see what else trips when those breakers go off. Sounds to me like you might have more than you realize on them. Like a fridge, or something. If not, get a new electrician in there to do it right

  6. Depending on the time your house was built it could be a few things. One of which is a lazy Electrician.

Is he the shop owner or one of the Journeymen? If he is a Journeyman, call his shop owner or his Master Electrician and ask that they send a different person to fix the issue. If they will not do that, or he is the owner, call your local Electrical Inspector and explain the issue. The new wiring should have been inspected. I'm guessing it wasn't.

  7. Depending on what kind of house you live you would have either a 100 or 200 Amp breaker box.  If you have the 100 amp, you can only carry fewer things.  If you have a 200 Amp breaker box, then it is okay to get 20 amp breakers.  My husband says you may have a dead short somewhere which means one of the hot and neutral wires would hooked up backwards.  One the light switch, you will probably have a white wire coming from the switch going to the light which is a jumper wire, and if he wired the black in with it, it is causing a dead short.  You need to call your electrician back and ask him to clarify why it should trip easy.  If the light keeps tripping, he has done something incorrectly, and it is his responsibility to fix it.  If nothing else, call another electrician when you can and see if he can identify the problem.

  8. He installed arc-fault breakers.. you have a neutral or ground tripping it. I built a new house and had the same problem. Get the electrician to fix it or put it back the way it was. older homes don't need arc-fault breakers...But are great if they work..
