I was thinking about joining the Army, maybe the special forces or the SWAT. when i grow up and all but, i was wondering if it will take any physical requirements.

also a fun question that I'm pretty sure is not true but... is it like ->

Lieutenant: WHO ARE YOU LOOKING AT SOLDIER!

Soldier: nothing sir

Lieutenant: DID I TELL YOU TO RESPOND SOLDIER!

Soldier: *no response*

  1. Special units of that type absolutely require physical abilities that are above average.  There are numerous websites and books on Amazon regarding exercise that discuss certain requirements of special forces.

  2. best of the best.

These men are in peak physical condition.

Have expert knowledge of their weapons and tactics.

    Have very much experience.

You cant just join special forces/swat like that. You have to earn it.

  3. SWAT is a civilian police unit.....not military

It is a difficult unit to join.....only the best of the best get in

Special Forces ( Green Beret) is an Army unit

..... you need to be physically fit.... we run ten miles once a month and usually three miles every morning.... you need to be emotionally and mentally stable .....all SF troopers have a GT of 110 ; above average intellect (average in the military is 90) http://www.goarmy.com/special_forces/

Both professions require you to be in top physical condition....

Do not know about the conversation you posted but the following took place one evening while I was walking in the 82nd Airborne Division area

I saw a shadowy figure cross my path.....in good spirits I said, "Goodevening, Sir"

The response was, "If you knew I was an officer ,why did you not salute?"

I came to attention, saluted and replied, "I did not know you were an officer, Sir"

Which got the response, "If you did not know I was an officer, why did you call me sir?"

" I always call people older than me SIR, Sir"

"How did you know I was older than you?"

Still standing at attention I said, "There are not many people at Fort Bragg not older than me , Sir !!"

    "Carry on, trooper"

  4. As one person pointed out, you are mixing apples and oranges.

Special Forces are not just Green Beret, but also the Rangers in the US Army and Delta Force as well. If you go with Marines, they are called Force RECON; Air Force has Air Commando's and Pararescue; Navy has SEALS.

All branches Military Police/Security Police/Harbor Patrol also have SWAT units.

To be in the Military no matter what there are physical requirements.

  5. if Lt does it...u always respond with sir...did i tell u to respond soldier...u say no sir...and so-on....swat are the special weapons and tactics units of certain police agencies such as LAPD, and special forces are specialized elite unites in the military such as pararescue for air force, rangers for army, special forces for army also which are 2 seperate units, and seals for the navy....physical demands of swat are not that demanding as the special forces due mainly cause one is law enforcement and the other is military special combat...typically if u can do 42 or more push-ups and sit-ups under 2 min and run 1.5 miles under 13 minutes...you should be...with special forces however, u gotta 2x or 3x that physical stress
