Question:

Special needs schools for an 11year old in Rutland?

I am considering moving into Rutland but there would appear to be no special educational schools for a female 10year old with severe physical and mental disabilities. Surely I have got this wrong.

  1. If your child has Special Educational Needs & has a Statement, I would advise you to contact Rutland's SEN section - even if she doesn't have a Statement admissions to special schools should go through the SEN section any way.

This is the link for Rutland County Council:

    http://www.rutland.gov.uk/pp/gold/viewgo...

If you already have an address that you're moving to, you could use the postcode to find out what special schools are in  the area using the Ofsted website.  Scroll down a bit & on the left hand side there's a grey box 'Search by Postcode':

    http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/reports

Alternatively you could also use this search engine:

Edit: You could also try contacting the Parent Partnership in Leicester, they should be able to tell you about the SEN provision in Rutland/Leicester:

  2. Nothing would surprise me anymore in this country. We're all DOOMED!

  3. This is just a guess, but I suspect that Rutland does not exist administratively as a council anymore and you need to be looking under Leicestershire for the area you are considering moving to.
