My sister will be going to my highschool this year as a freshman. She was born with Cerebral Palsy and will be in a special class. But im worried people will make fun of her. When we were in middle school, people joked and made fun of her to her face and laughed when she cried. Highschool is so much more vicious. She doesnt understand that they are making fun of her. I get so mad that last year I punched a guy and busted his lip for laughing at her. How can I control my emotions when I see her getting picked on?

  1.    Well. High schools are serious. There are a lot of people who love to tease others in this world. That is not a good thing.

I have to admit that you are a protective sister. You probably should talk with your parents about this. They might able to help you to control your emotions.

You know your little sister will grow up one day and you can't stay beside her all the time. You should help her when she is miserable and helpless. That is what a good sister will do.

However, If you really want her to grow up and not be teased by other people, you should train her.

Training her to read and write will help her a lot in her life. And that is what a really good sister will do.

  3. First, about your sister going to high school: It has been my observation that, although high school can be socially demanding for many, those with severe disabilities are actually included and stood up for by most high school students from most groups.  They tend to protect them from the few who are not so mature, as if they were innocent and helpless family members.

Second, about your emotions: Obviously you care for your sister and want the best for her.  Allow her to have a positive experience.  Hope for the best.  Encourage and allow others to develop relationships with her.  You will be glad that you allowed her to broaden her horizons this way.
