The Australian cricket team arrived in India to play their two Test and three ODI series against the Indian national team. The Australian reached Chandigarh to play their first warm-up game against Board
President’s XI and checked into the Taj hotel amidst heavy security.
The hotel has been almost converted into a fortress, and the security has been heightened in the wake of the attack on a couple of foreigners at Jama Masjid in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780
While http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 has played in Chandigarh before, what is different this time is that they will remain in Chandigarh for a period of 16 days. Not only will they play the warm-up game against the Board President’s
XI here, but the first Test match is also being scheduled at Mohali, which is one hour away from Chandigarh.
The road leading to the Taj gates has been made a no-entry for traffic, and the vehicles are now diverted to the other available routes. A Quick Reaction Team vehicle and two Police Control Room vehicles
are also on a standby outside the Taj.
Speaking to the IANS, the deputy superintendent of police and security in-charge of Australian team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Roshan-Lal-c86855 said that security has been deployed in and around the hotel as well as the cricket stadium.
Australian captain Ricky Ponting said that he was satisfied with the security arrangements in Chandigarh.
“We trust the special advisory issued by Cricket Australia. Before our arrival at any venue, special security team accompanied by the officials of CA goes to the spot to evaluate the security arrangements,”
said Ponting.
The Aussies will play the BP XI from September 25 in a three-day fixture at Sector 16 Stadium in Chandigarh, which will be followed by the first Test match from October 1. The BP XI is being led by Gautam

Australia had lost the last series in India 2-0 and are currently ranked fourth in the Test match world.
