  1. This is a controversial subject at the moment. The school receives the money for the extra support. This money should be used for extra help for just your child, but more and more schools are trying to wriggle out of this and say the child does not need help in every lesson. Therefore the time that should be given solely to your child is used for other children in the class. You must go into the school and point out to them your child was awarded the extra help because she needs it. Don't let them try to fob you off, if you are unhappy with what the SENCO and the school have to say make a formal complaint to your local education authority. Also get in touch with your local Parent Partnership service and they will help you any way they can. Good luck.

  2. unfortunately the 25 hours also has to cover admin work relating to your child, parent meetings, anything where the child is being discussed.

its not fair but its how things work!!

  3. get in touch with the department who rewarded you and ask what level of help is being paid for and see if it is being met but bear in mind they may be working towards you son/daughter being more independent in school and the SN teacher is still there if needed my true belief is it is wrong to but a young person into main stream school if they need that level of care and i am not getting at you yes young people need to be the same as every one else and be treat the same but some cases or different what special needs is you young person receiving and why is it medical or behavioural it is hard to work out by your discription i am a mentor feel free to e-mail me if you think i could help more Dave

  4. Not sure what you mean here.OK

My son as special needs.he is in main stream education and he as his own support teacher she goes with him in lessons everywhere the school get a grant for him from the education department.

he does all the things the other kids do but she is there to help him one on one with the things they do.

if your child as been awarded some form of extra help he/she should get it i would contact the school and ask why his/her needs are not being met when it as been stated he/she needs that level of support.

Failing that contact your help or support you get for your child and have them look into it.

    good luck

    regards x Kitti x

  5. Sounds to me like the school is pocketing the cash for those 4 missing hours. Take it up with the school as soon as you can. It's unacceptable. Unfortunately, it is quite common. Schools think they can get away with it, and frequently do.
