Question:

Specification required when purchase an Alternator?

Hi, I'm going to purchase an Permanent Magnet Generator from

http://www.ginlong.com/wind-turbine-pmg-pma-permanent-magnet-generator-alternator-customise.htm

But the alternator that I'm going to buy will follow my customization. My customization will be 100Watt at 200rpm, smaller range(for low wind speed)

However, I'm not sure what specification should I mention in the quotation. And the dimension and weight is not in my consideration.

Are these the information must be included?

Rated speed (Rpm)

Rated power

Current at rated speed

and what else?

By the way, I don't really understand what is "rated" mean in speed/power/current.

eg, http://www.alxion.com/e_produit/82.pdf

what is the difference with just write speed/power/current alone?

And should I include the watt-hour generated?

thanks a lot.

  1. Get any generator and change the speed via pully or limit it with a torque limiter. Then get a regulator to regulate the voltage. It doesn't matter what the wattage is as long as you don't overload it. You can have 200W capacity and only use 100W.
