It finally appears that the dream of test championship is soon going to be materialized. The ICC chief executive committee has defined a new set of proposals for five day and one day cricket. The restructuring of Cricket match format was in the pipe line
from the last couple of years. The extensive deliberation on the restructuring of the game finally appears to be transforming in reality. The Committee has further recommended a new version of reduced 50 over World Cup and an enlarged Twenty 20 event.
The new test match format envisages future tours Programme with a test league. The test league would be accomplished over a period of four years with the top four teams qualifying for a play-off event. The first playoff has been scheduled
in 2013. Lord’s stadium is destined to host the final match of the test championship.
Similarly the revised one day format include introduction of a new league. The new league would be based on the existing ranking of the teams and is planned to commence in April 2011. The competition would run over a period of four
years to finally result in the final between winners on April 2014. The winner would be crowned as the first one day international league Champion.
It is pertinent to mention that league champion has been declared a separate event from the World Cup. It would be regarded as the ICC’s flagship event. The central executive committee has also recommended reducing the number of teams
to 10 for the 2015 event. The 2011 world cup has also witnessed the reduction in number of teams. The 2011 world cup includes 14 teams and the battle for the title would continue from February 19 to April 2. The 2011 World Cup is itself regarded as the smaller
version as compared to 2007 event. The World Cup 2007 observed 16 teams that were widely being criticized for length of the tournament.

by Central executive committee, the 2012 T20 world cup would include 16 teams. The 2012 Twenty 20 world cup has been planned to be held in Sri-Lanka. The women’s event of the Twenty 20 would be played alongside the men’s tournament. CEC also desires to operate
a Twenty 20 league table on immediate basis.
The restructuring of cricket on international level is indeed a strategic issue. The restructure has been a challenge to the Cricket pundits in the ICC for quite a long time. Haroon Lorgat, the ICC chief executive has expressed his
satisfaction over the efficiency and efficacy of CEC in delivering the well thought out proposals. He appreciated the central executive committee and expressed his gratitude to the members for tackling the important issue very diligently.
He asserted that the issue of changes in the international cricket format required consensus amongst various stake holders. Haroon Lorgat termed the unanimous proposals as a great achievement. The unanimous and balanced set of proposals
reveals in-depth deliberations on the strategic issue by the CEC, he said. Haroon Lorgat appreciated CEC for the well crafted strategic response, it exhibited in the matter. He termed the set of proposals as milestone achieved by the CEC in restructuring of
international cricket. The recommendations would definitely add new excitement and entertainment in the international cricket, Haroon Lorgat said.

front of ICC executive board as soon as possible.
The two day meeting of Central executive committee also deliberated on the issue of bad light during matches. They unanimously agreed that players should leave the field only in case of dangerous conditions. Dave Richardson, ICC’s
general manager described that match officials could only disband a match if the conditions are dangerous or unreasonable. He further urged that players are not allowed to leave the field in the presence of flood lights.
The new proposals in the international cricket are a welcome step and would contribute to generate further excitement in the game. It is hoped that the unanimously agreed proposals would clear the ICC executive board scrutiny as soon
as possible.
