Speech Assignment (NEED HELP!) Due This Morning?

Question

I have a speech due today in school around 10 am central time.

Its called "Any Old Bag" Speech.

I have been busy all weekend and have not had anytime to do it.

I'm so confused on how exactly I should piece this together to make it easy to remember and not sound like an idiot.

I would normally be able to breeze through something like this on my own, but I am so worn that I can hardly think. If I don't complete this speech, my chances of passing this required to graduate class are slim.

These are the paper descriptions for the assignment.

"Length - 2 to 5 minutes

2 minutes is the minimum.

The Average length should be between 3 and 4 minutes; if the speech is under 2 minutes I won't receive anything better than a D.

Preparation -

Instructions by Quotations

- Fill "any old bag" with at least five, but no more than 7 items. The bag and each item chosen should symbolize something about your life. (Here is my myspace page so you will be able to fit things with my personality. www.myspace.com/mackyshane)

Explain how each item in the bag exemplifies your life.

The use of metaphors is encouraged - these tend to be more creative.

- I have to look for innovative items based upon my interests, hobbies, job, goals or concerns.

- The objects themselves might be ordinary, but they can be made to significant and interesting through examples, experiences and opinions.

- Some items are too small to be seen (driver's license, keys, pen, small photos) and other items are too common (textbooks, notebooks, and class schedules)

- I have to use a really good attention getter.

This is how the structure of the speech must be done.

I. Intro

A. Attention grabber (I can't use "my name is and I will be showing you today) something more like "Today I will be showing you" but It has to be creative.

II. Body

A. Past.

I have to show two past items and tell about what they mean in my life (obviously representing something of my past)

B.

& showing two items for the present shouldn't be too hard, same as the concept of the first two items but with items representing today.

C. Also with future.

Remember & P.s. : I still have to include a metophor somewhere in there but I am not sure where to insert the metaphors.

& also, I have limited items around my house, so I was hoping if you guys have any good ideas for items that represent either my past, present, or future, it would be most likely something that any household would have with the exception of it not being too simple or small.

III.

A. Summary

I then have to have a conclusion that goes through what I just presented, blah, blah, blah, Those were some things that I chose to represent myself, thank-you.

I'm going to keep working on this before dawn hits but I'd really, Really! appreciate all the help I can get.

i went through your profile. found reama and reams of poetry. if you just type something about yourself here, i can help. i will come back to answer your question. if you are running out of time, i would suggest finding the objects first. and then somehow linking it to yourself.use free association. for eg, you could put a pen in, and talk about how you like to write. or a key chain and talk about how ___ holds the key to your heart.

Ok so this is about your life

sry i dont have time to see your myspace but this is simple

items from you past , anything about the past is easy to come up with

like a pair of old torn jeans. maybe the jeans represent a past relationship that didnt work out.and you were the one that got hurt. or maybe a certain CD or a small gift you got form a friend. that makes you remember them. Dont think about big things

life is always about the little things in life

there's your metaphor your present ...

something that says you ur phone or purse or maybe a bracelet that you need to have on a daily basis. maybe the bracelet says that even though it seems worn down and useless to you it is more then just a a chain with charms. it represents you like if you played a sport and you have a charm of that sport you remember the days when you played if you dont anymore.

or even a blank chain

just a bracelet that was given to you as a family heirloom it has the emotion of the rustic side of your personality bold yet beautiful. and you future .something that for tells your lifes direction.

maybe a job app.

or a picture of family , yours or a magazines. it says you are longing for a family to show that you are ready to take on the world with your torn tattered jeans and your bracelet that has stood the test of time.

Good luck on the speech but I think you should have been more organised and worked on the speech beforehand. It is 8pm Monday where I am (Melbourne) and I had a chem test earlier today- I also left studying for it to the last minute but it wasn't that bad and I thought I did OK for it (chem isn't one of my favorite subjects)!
