Speech Consultation Scenario?

Question

My son, 4 yrs old, will see speech therapy soon because I observed he has echolalia. He is also very delayed in his speech. And he also said phrases which are not appropriate. How will the speech therapist make the evaluation? Can someone please give me idea on this? What should I do to prepare?

just let him be himself. You do not really need to "prepare' or "study" for the consultation. They WANT to see how the child really is so they can help them. Most pediatric speech therapists do play therapy with kids. they will probably have him read a simple story, maybe make some faces, or repeat things after the therapist, or play a game. My son was a full 12 months behind on his expressive speech at 27 months old when he started speech. He needed a few weeks to warm up to the routine, but now he loves his "miss jenny" time and has made great progress.
