Question:

Speech Delivery Tips?

I have a speech contest this coming august.

I have won the 1st 2 rounds of the contest and now I'm representing my region for this speech contest.

I'm really nervous about it and ever since my 2nd win i have been practicing everyday with teachers and some people and have been doing a lot of talks just to make my speech improve to the better.

I just want to ask if there are still other things i can do before the contest will start like simple drills and everyday you-can-do routines to improve confidence and make impressive impressions to anybody.

I would appreciate it if the answer is worth something.

  1. Be sure to rehearse in front of a mirror.  This will help you see your facial expressions, your hand gestures and your body language.  You will want to be confident yet relaxed.

You also may want to record yourself giving your speech.  That way,  you can hear your voice fluctuation and actually be able to see how you will look to others.

And, if at all possible, try not to hide behind a podium...memorize  your speech...and make lots and lots of eye contact with your audience.

    I truly hope this helps....

Best of luck to you!! I know you will do great!

  2. Just keep rehearsing.  It goes a lot smoother when you are as prepared as possible.
