Question:

Speech Pathologist Career-Looking for answers!?

I was browsing through some careers that people were seeking that dealt with working with children. I came across one particular answer from someone that said for that person to check into becoming a Speech Pathologist. They said that this therapist "played" with the children to teach them language skills that they were having a hard time learning and that she absolutely loved her job. The question I have is, can you get an on-line degree as a Speech Pathologist? Are there bachelor degrees available for this program? I need help because I would love a career that involved making great money, great hours, and a job that gives you satisfaction, rewards, and recognition. Does anyone have the answers for me? Thanks and god bless.

  1. Speech Pathologists are in high demand in many areas of the country.  You can do some of the pre-requisites and academic coursework online in many states, but you need clinical hours, learning how to work as a speech pathologist, do testing, working with patients, etc.  It's usually a graduate degree as well, although I believe you can work in most states with a bachelors degree in the field.  Yes, it's very rewarding and you have geographic mobility due to the high demand--like nurses, you can travel around for 6-12 month or more contracts.

Check with your local public university/community college system for the requirements for speech pathology, the online courses available, ,and other information.
