Speech Program...?

Hello,

I am a teacher assistant who works with a child who has speech delay. The special ed. coordinator gave me a list of the goals and what needs to improve and that is it. Whose responsibility is it to find the materials needed to help this child learn speech? Is it my job as a teacher assistant to find the materials and program what materials to use on specific days? Or is it up to the teacher to do this? Right now I am the one organizing the activities for this child to increase his speech knowledge.

  1. You are a teacher assistant not a speech pathologist so she needs to be the one directing you on what exactly to work on and share her ideas and areas she is working on with this child to avoid confusion.

  2. its ur reponsibility to help that child..

  3. Depends on what your board policy is.  It is always a good idea to work with your education partners.  The special ed. coordinator will probably have resources that would help, but you likely know the child better, so you would be better at knowing what to do when.  Ask for specific help ie: "What is a good strategy to teach . . ." or "Can you recommend a good resource to implement these goals?"  If he/she cannot or will not help, speak to a Speech Language Pathologist. (There should be one working for your board)

  4. It should not be your job to find the materials and come up with the activities to address the goals. It should be your job to implement the programs that should be put in place by either the teacher or speech pathologist. You are not a certificated staff member they are.

  5. he/ she is trying to give you an oportunity to see if you can com up with somthing..

    do it..it will better you
