My son 4yr old would say "dog" when he wants to go outside the house. Why can't he express his feelings properly? He will say his Nannys name when he wants to go to toilet instead of expressing that he wants to go toilet. But he will say he wants to go to toilet as an excuse to go outside bedroom because he fights sleep.

  1. Wow ..this has stumped me ..do you try and correct him when he says this if not this is why he might continue to do this, personally i would ask your son why he is saying this because at four he may just be playing with you, does he do this at school as well ?

If it continues i would ask your son's school their advise about what to try next ..best of luck

  2. Is this something new or has he always had a problem with speech. If this is new I would get him to the doctor and find out if he is having a hearing or language problem. If not them maybe he is just being stubborn and not wanting to say the things he knows. I would try and get him in to some kind of speech theripist to find out the exact cause. Good luck.
