Speech topic ideas? Out on a limb?

For my english speech I have to write about a time I've been 'out on a limb'. So I need loads of ideas PLEASE!

It has to be about going out of our comfort zones, or doing something we wouldn't noramally do, conquering a phobia etc.

Heaps of ideas would be a huge help please!!!

My speech doesn't have to be factual/true, just following guide lines and presented well!

Thanks!

  1. Have you ever stood up for a friend even though it meant others would make fun of you that could work

  2. how simple speak on the need for this speech, how you can't find a topic, unsure on how to present,,,how long is it?When in doubt go for a little humor

  3. Well, it would be best to write about a time YOU experienced, but...

I conquered my fear of heights I used to have by jumping off a really high diving board. I was scared like heck but I forced myself to do so because I knew I'd feel good about myself afterwards :)

Remember to look at the audience in a speech, speak clearly, and organize your thoughts well. Good luck!

  4. Out on a limb? And it doesn't have to be TRUE? Then the options are endless!

Consider fabricating or just "expanding" on a time when you had to take a chance on something - on a job, on a relationship, etc. You could pull examples from successful business men and women who have had to take chances - and often messed up - to get where they are! Research the guy who found Hershey Chocolate. Also look up Thomas Edison's quote about learning 1,000 ways how NOT to make a lightbulb. That should cover persistence as a possible approach to taking chances.

You are "out on a limb" constantly - if you're good with words, you can make every day decisions sound quite risky!
