The mass of a van with a driver is 2000 kg . When the van accelerates, the velocity increases with a uniform acceleration of 3.0 m/s2.

a) The van starts at rest. Find the velocity after 4.0 s. b) How far does the van travel in the first 4.0 s?

c) Find the acceleration when an additional load of 1200 kg is added onto the van. Assume

that the accelerating force remains unchanged

  1. m=2000kg

    vi=0ms

    a=3.0m/s^2

    a) plug and chug, yo! vf=? t=4.0s so use vf = vi + at

    b) d = vit + 1/2at2

    c) a=F/m using the initial a and the original mass...then get the force and plug in that force into another a=F/m, where F is known , a is unknown and m is the new one + the old one.
