Question:

Speed Camera - Will I Get Points Help!?

Hi I live in the UK the incident took place at Blythe Valley Business Park- West Midlands

Today I got flashed by a camera in a business park. I was doing 50mph in a 30 limit. All I saw was 1 speed limit 30 sign.

There was no speed camera sign and it was not yellow or in high visibility. I did not recognise the type of speed camera it was on a metal pole there were 2 'CCTV' like cameras, bunched together. It looks like a non-government approved one.

It only flashed once, and since it was in the business park on the business park road to the gym, I am presuming it was owned by them and will go back to their 'control box'.

My question is, do they have the power to issue penalty points, I presume they can issue a fine but it is the '3' points I don't want if the image comes out (It was at night).

  1. Three points comming your way in the next 2 weeks.SP30 endorsement with a 60 quid fine valid for 3 years and will stay on your license for 4 years.Try living in NWales like me.They have horseboxes with cameras now.

  2. hopfully a ban as they class 50 mph in a 30mph zone as reckless driving so a heavty fine or a ban as all camera,s are there to keep sped down

  3. Unless it was a police Camera I doubt it. i would be tempted to tell a private company to show their penalty notice where the sun don't shine

  4. Only saw 1 30 sign indeed!  How many do you need to point out the speed limit to you? I think you'll find it is a public highway and you can expect a little surprise through your letter box in a week or so.

  5. Our countries are getting more and more like 1984 everyday

  6. Only a Court can impose points on your licence. private companys cannot impose points unless they go to court.

  7. yes you will get both.  it is a nice picture of your car .frame it for the next time
