  1. When the question is framed in terms of meters and seconds then the answer should always be presented in meters per second, NOT converted to km/h. It makes it more complicated, you wont get extra marks for it and you could actually lose marks.

  2. d/t=s

    Where,

         d = diatance

         t = time

         s = speed

    So,

         Speed (s) = Distance (d) / Time (t)

                           = 150 meters/ 8 seconds

                           = 18.75 meters/second

  3. no actually ... usually they calculate speed in schools in m/s .. so the first guy is correct ... 150/88 = 1.7 m/s

  4. 88 secs is x% of an hour, and you need to find out how far they would have gone had they swam at that rate for the entire hour, therefore the formula is:

    no of secs in an hour (3600) divided by the no of seconds recorded (88) times how far they did travel (150m)

    (3600 / 88) x 150m = 6.14kph

  5. ______

    Data :

    ----------

    d = 150m

    t = 88sec

    v = ?

    _______

    Solution :

    -------------

    By using the formula, we have

    d = v*t

    v = d/t

    v = 150/88

    v = 1.7045 m/s

  6. Formula is correct. However, you shall convert it into distance/hrs

    So distance in Km / Time in Hrs will give you correct speed.

    e.g. 150/1000 is 0.150 KM and 88/3600 is time in hrs Now make division

  7. Distance/time = speed, Think of it this way, It means a certain amount of distance covered in unit time.

    So The answer is 150/88 =~ 1.70 m/p

  8. d = distance

    t = time

    s= speed

    so the speed will be 150/88

    the answer will be in meters per second (m/s) as they are the units you used in the calculation.
