Speed Of A Sea Kayak?

I would like to know how fast a sea kayak is normally going when you have an average person paddling it along a placid bay. I hope to travel 12km (8 Miles) in about one hour - is that realistic for a guy who works in an office?

than probaly not if u work out and experienced then mabe.

An experienced paddler with favorable current and wave conditions can maintain approximately 5 knots.  Inexperienced paddlers manage about 2 knots.
