What would happen to a baseball if I threw it in a vacuum at the speed of light?

  4. Depending on how you throw it, it would just... go.

    But you really can't make it reach light speed, because it would take an infinite amount of energy to do so. This happens because mass = energy ( Einstein's equation E= m.c²) ; if you accelerate something, it adquires kinetic energy (movement energy), which is energy, and it shows in the object as an increase in it's mass. We call this relativistic mass. As you increase the speed, you also increase the mass, and it tends to infinite mass in the speed of light. Infinite mass needs an infinite force to be accelerated ( Newton's second law, F=m.a ). Well, you can't make an infinite force, can you? =D
