Ever wonder what the speed of lightning would be if it didn’t zigzag?

  3. Speed of lightning is the same as that of light, zigzag does not come in consideration.

  5. I am sure it would be a bit faster then it is right now on its zigzag path, but still not at the speed of light.

  6. Lighting itself isn't too fast because the air is a terrible electrical conductor.  It just has so much energy behind it that it actually feels the attraction all the way down to the grounding force (the ground!)

    I have no idea what the speed of lightning is.  I'd imagine it's pretty fast.  However, considering the variable nature of its path, I doubt it would ever follow a straight line.  It's a neat idea though.
