Speed test?

i have just done a speed test using http://www.speedtest.net/ my results were dwnload= 5655 kb/s and upload = 320 kb/s is this a good speed?

Yes that is a good speed. However, the speed test sites do not test your "actual" connection speed. Your maximum speed might actually be higher than 5655kb/ps. The connection from your ISP maybe something like 10MB/ps.

Your connection is only as fast as the resource it is connecting to. For example, if you're downloading a file from a site, your speed is determined by the bandwidth of the server on that site or the amount that *they* allow. So your actual connection might be 10MB/ps but the server you're downloading from only gives you 300Kb/ps. (Or even slower)

So, having a faster connection will only increase browsing speeds a little. The faster connection is useful when you have a shared connection where multiple users are using the internet at the same time."

Yes but remember they are only the maximum speeds. you could end up download something at 0.1kb

Thats a good speed.

As said already most sites wont send data to you at the speed but its great if you're sharing with others.

I'm with Chorus at the moment. Took ages to get it installed but I've got 12mbit

Thats about what i get it depends on your connection if thats an 8meg line than thats very good as i have an 8meg line and i get about 5600 - 6500kb/s which gives me about it some times can go even faster i sometimes manage about 7300kb\s though not very often. It really depends on your ISP and location from them

My internet is good enough to watch movie online wihtout waiting. Playing games online with no lags. Fast download too.

Only problem is Upload... its not so good and fast.

and these are:

Download: 3687 kb/s

Upload: 378 kb/s

So the results for ur download is better than mine, if mine is good for me urs should be good too. I dont know if u upload much but if u do :D change ur internet hehe.

wow that's GREAT SPEED

I dont know where u live,but in my retarded county(serbia)

the fastest internet is 1568 kbps-- somewhere around 170Kb/s

so I think u r lucky

ps. we will probably have that internet in about 30 years or so :)
