How much would the fine be for speeding 51 mph in a 35 mph street in Los Angeles (West LA)?

Also if I decide to pay and do traffic school, will my insurance not get word of it?

  1. Answer is simple:

    1) Ticket will be around $200-300 dollars.

    2) If you take traffic school, the court will NOT report a point to the DMV which the Insurance companies monitor.

I would recommend doing traffic school asap.  Not to mention, you can do it ON-LINE! Check out http://www.LaTrafficSchool.com - they were quick, easy, and I completed my schooling in a day!

  2. The amount of the fine should be listed on the ticket.  51 MPH in a residential zone ... I'll guess the ticket will be fairly expensive!

If you decide to pay the ticket and do traffic school, your insurance company will still get word of the ticket, and I'd expect your rate to go up.

The traffic school will keep the points off your license for suspension purposes, it might help reduce the premium jump you will get for the ticket, only your insurance agent can tell you that for sure.
