Question:

Speeding In Georgia under 21???

I Got a speeding ticket in Georgia going 72 in a 45 = 27 over the limit. My court date is in like 2 weeks, I have already attended a State defensive driving course. This was my first driving offense I'm scared to death of getting my license suspended.

I'm a full time commuter college student and I drive a significant distance to work. I understand how wrong and dangerous speeding was. I'm not posting this question so that someone can tell me I deserve to have my license suspended. I understand that by law my license will be suspended when I go to court.

I'm looking for any suggestions on how I can possibly save my license from being suspended.

Again I'm looking for help, not condemnation, I already feel horrible anyway.

P.S. I cannot afford a lawyer

  1. Contact your local Bar association.  They may be able to recommend an attorney who will give you a free consultation.

  2. lol 27 over you will prolly loose them!

  3. I live in GA and if you are caught going 24 plus over your liscence are AUTOMATICALLY suspended regardless of age. There is no way to stop this without a lawyer. GA is pretty tough with these type of cases. Expect a 12 month suspension. However if you tell them your a college student they will give you a permit to go to and from school only.

  4. Well, you ARE an idiot!  (Couldnt help it!)

But if you explain that you need your license to commute to and from school, chances are they would allow you something like a "work license" to go to and from school.  Most law enforcement officials understand that the main source of crime is poverty.  If you are going to school and seriously trying to create a successful future for you, they would be hard pressed to prevent you from attaining your goals.

They want to see you again as much as you want to see them! You may not believe it, but serioulsy police and judges do not WANT to ruin your life.
