Question:

Speeding Ticket Advice in CA?

by  |  earlier

I am sixteen years old and i got my first speeding ticket today.

It was rather unlucky because I RARELY ever speed, but I was driving from LA to San Diego and I was following the speed of the traffic (around 75-80 mph), but i was the only one in the carpool lane so i guess the cop singled me out.

The ticket says I was going 78 in a 65mph zone.

I was wondering what I should do. This is my first ticket so I'm not sure what to do. However, i'm sixteen so i'm a new driver. Is it possible to take traffic school or something to get the points erased?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Also, my two sisters were in the car with me, but i had written consent from my parents to drive them. I"m not sure if they'd help at all as "witnesses" in court.

  1. assuming that you are a licensed driver and not just have your permitm yes in california you are elegible for traffice school before you turn 18

you will howeverstill have to pay the fine for the ticket

you can do traffic school on line, the court will give you a list of elegible schools. and with some courts you will have to go to a "proxy" center and take a final exam to prove that you actually took the course.

why would you need witnesses unless you intend to fight the ticket, and belive me if it was the california highway patrol you will not win, pay and get past it.

  2. .   YOu have 2 choices.  Go to court and say NOT GUILTY and answer the judge's questions and rebut the policeman.   Or read the back of the ticket and go to traffic school and pay the fine.

Dress nice.  Bring your sisters to court.  I hope you don't have 25 tattoos.

  3. Go to traffic court.  They can give much better advice than anybody here can.  They can even recommend a particular traffic school if your point can be cleared by traffic school.
