  1. Is this your first ticket?  I'm guessing probably not, but it will help a lot if it is.  Make sure you go into court and talk with the prosecutors or an attorney there.  You really don't want to let this just go onto your record.  That much over the limit will definitely affect your insurance.  There are plenty of opportunities for you to reduce the ticket or get out of it completely.

  2. Probably not. Since you are 18, it should just be a fine. However, that largely depends on how fast you were going. Over 100MPH you could have your license suspended.

  3. Not to likely but when you go to court ask for community services, it will help your record, God Bless

  4. Chuckles is right.  Once you're over 18, age is not a factor in punishment of speeding tickets.

I all depends on how many MPH over the limit you were going and your past record.

If you  were going over 80 MPH or more than 20 MPH over the limit, your license may be at risk.

The fine may be hefty but the real strain on your wallet will probably come from your insurance company.

Presumably you have only had time to have one ticket on your record, so you do not have to worry about the "three speeding tickets in less than 18 months" rule in NYS.

  5. No, just because you only had you license for a little doesn't mean you will lose it. All you need to do is take it court and make sure that you are only liable for the fine and no points. Make sure to tell the judge that you did not recognize the available signs that had the speed limit on it and was unsure of the limit at that point. He should give you no pts.

It will be ok, trust me.
