My step dad got a speeding ticket on our way out of town. He was going 77 on a 65 mph highway. we live in san antonio tx and he got it in cotulla tx. our way back from vacation he called the number on the ticket to get more information and they told him to go ahead and send a money order with the ticket amount and a letter requesting the judge to not put the ticket on his record. that way his insurance rate won't go up. that's what the court people told him to do. he wants me to make him the letter. I'm just asking for any suggestions on how to compose the letter.

thanks in advance.

  1. Just send the letter dont worry about trying to impress the judge he most likley will glance at it and toss it aside

  2. Does Texas not have a class that you can take to avoid the points. Check with your local authorities.

  3. How come you need to write it he got it. So he should be able to. If he can not he should go to court all by his self. I live in Texas also.

  4. A letter may work but your dad would be a lot better off if he just appears on the court date and then he can ask the judge if he can take a defensive driving course.

If he is accepted then he can take the course and stay clean for 6 months and then the ticket will be removed....

The rule of thumb is that is it always better to speak directly to the judge because a letter to a judge is considered lazy…………
