  1. not sure how much the ticket is but you can go to traffic school you will have to pay for both.  I have done this a few times no big deal you can do traffic school on line, video, or go to a class.  I go to the class because i have found coupons for it in the newspaper so it is only $20.  when you show up to pay the ticket they will give you a list of approved schools.  If you go to court to chalange it you might not be given to opportunity to go to traffic school so unless you know you were 100% in the right just pay the fine go to school and move on because if you don't got to school your insurance will go up.  I have been on both sides of a ticket book officers are really good at showing they are correct in writhing the ticket  and unless you know the vehicle codes you are better off just paying the fine

  2. Traffic fines in California are set by a state-wide schedule which is applicable no matter who wrote the ticket and no matter what county is involved.

Some local assessments may vary the fine by a few dollars, but that is it. The scheduled fine for going 15 mph over the limit (in the 15-25 range) is $266 plus court cost and you will receive point on your driving record that will last for three years.

If you are eligible, traffic school will cost a bit more, but keep it off your record.

  3. You should only speed on freeways is the advice I'd tell you, unless you are super comfortable with the area and know where cops usually hide.  The fine should be listed on ticket.

Other penalties, I'm sorry, but your insurance rates are going to increase.  You are allowed to go to traffic school though to avoid this, but you are only allowed to go once every 2 years or something like that.

You can contest the ticket in court but that is often difficult to do, unless the cop doesn't show up in court.
