I have 15 yrs of driving record with no ticket so far.

I live in Texas and was visiting Chicago on long weekend. I stop at a stop sign. Then proceed to drive 0.2 miles to the next stop sign and turn left. A cop then pulls me over and tickets me for speeding 34 in a 20 children present on the road. He said he caught me on radar. I don't believe it as I don't believe I did this.

I just want to pay fine and be done ,but now I have a ticket where court appearance is needed and I don't live in IL.

Any suggestions what can be done?

  1. go to the court hearing and get it over with

  2. what time of day was it or was it night

    was there children present

  3. That is what you have to do.

  4. If all you want to do is pay the ticket then just call the chicago courts and get the total price of the ticket and ask if there are any other fees that you need to pay and then send them a check or money order for that amount and put on the check or money order in the corner "full and final payment and make a copy of it and mail it........

  5. never heard of such a thing. hey every city needs the bucks and the cops know the out of staters will just pay up<

  6. go to court plead guilty and pay the ticket. i really don't see why you can't just pay the fine but those chi town counties can have some crazy rules

    goodluck

  7. Basically, your choices are to just pay the fine, or the appear in court and fight it. If you choose to fight it, ask for the maintenance schedule on the radar gun. If it was not maintained on schedule, they don't have a case. Also, ask if the officer received periodic training on use of the gun. If he was supposed to receive periodic training and didn't, you may have a case.

I heard that those two issues can help you get out of the ticket.

  8. Sorry you have to go to court! It was a school zone! But tell the judge you never had a ticket in 15 years and were from out of town he should be nice to you but you have to go to court there thats sucks but the law is the law! Good luck! Slow down next time your there lol
