Can you guys tell me how many over the speed limit will keep u fromgetting aspeeding ticket?

Is it 5, 10, or 15?

y'all know it's kinda annoying to find yourself driving within the speed limit while other drivers speed pass you but when u hit some more gas, then there's a cop.

  1. it really depends on the type of road and where you live..

I live in the Philly area and on the highways when there is no traffic you can keep it 15 over and be fine..  in suburb areas you should keep  it around 5 over...

typically no more than 10 over on interstates, and 5 for non-highways

  2. the speed limit is the speed limit I learned that in traffic school

  3. Yes, have the luck of the Gods on your side.  If you don't have that, I would recommend you stick to the speed limit.

  4. You already answered your own question. Only you have the power to grow out of this.

  5. None of the officers I work with have a set limit, or a standard rule.

There are a lot of factors that influence their decision. External factors (ones you can't control) such as traffic density, pedestrians, weather, construction, time of day, and others are considered, as far as internal factors such as prior driving record and yes, even attitude. Someone denying speeding, or trying to justify it, is not likely to learn from a warning, so they are more likely to get a citation.

Keep in mind the posted limit is the maximum allowed under ideal conditions. All the examples I listed, and more, make conditions less than ideal.

  6. Every car comes equipped with a speedometer. Keeping an eye on it while driving will help you avoid speeding tickets.

  7. the number posted on the sign is the LIMIT not just a suggestion

    1 MPH over is speeding

if everyone else was driving off a cliff would you do it just because they are?

time it sometime speeding 5 MPH over dont really get you there quicker enough to risk the accident or the ticket
