Speeding ticket Humbolt County CA. I can't pay What do i do?

I had sum1 tailgating me so i sped up to change lanes and the cop busted me when i sped up. I can't pay the speeding ticket and I'm not entitled to traffic school because i had another ticket within the last 18 months. Cop didn't care the guy was tailgating. *NOTE CA DMV handbook says to deal with tailgaters is to change lanes when safe and let him pass or pull over when safe and let him pass. I did change lanes.

What can i do besides pay and traffic school?

When i show up to court which words should i use to plead my case?

YOU COULD TELL THE JUDGE YOU DONT HAVE THE MONEY HE COULD GIVE YOU PAYMENTS OR COMMUNITY SERVICE BUT AS LONG IS YOUR IN COURT THE JUDGE WILL GIVE YOU SOME OTHER OPTIONS LIKE U ALSO COULD GET AN EXTENSION.

Yeah, you don't get to speed up to change lanes and then claim it was because someone was tailgating you.  It's still speeding and as you know now, you can still be cited for it.  I wouldn't have cared that you were being tailgated, either - you only make a bad situation worse when you start speeding to avoid a tailgater.

You need to show up to court.  Explain to the judge (if you're willing to do this) that you're guilty but you cannot afford to pay the fine.  Ask if you can do community service in lieu of the fine or ask to make payments.  Payments will end up costly slightly more, but they keep you from having to pay the entire thing at once.

Sorry, but you were speeding.  Note that the CA DMV handbook doesn't say to speed up to change lanes....it says to change lanes when safe, and let them pass, or pull over.  Yes, you did change lanes, but you sped up to do that, and that's when you got caught.  I don't think you have an option.  I think you'll have to pay the ticket and, depending on your age, you might lose your license.  Good luck in court!

Most states have attorneys that specialize in traffic court.  They are even usually cheaper than the fine, working on high volume to make a decent living, but to keep it off your traffic record is the most important part.
