I got a speeding ticket in Rhode Island and I live in Massachusetts. Is there anyway of getting the ticket dismissed? btw, I'm 18 years old, if that makes any difference. Thanks

  1. Usually if you are out of state, you have the option of paying a lawyer to appear on your behalf.  They will not dismiss it.  In fact, if you take it to trial, there is a good chance the officer will have to show the actual radar readings.

Your lawyer or you might be able to plea down to a lesser charge, but it still WILL appear on your driving record (they usually do not plea down to paperwork violations, especially if the officer already gave you a break) and there will be a report as part of the next insurance renewal.

My advice, let your parents know now.

  2. Got some bad news buddy.  Your age makes no difference now.  You're supposed to be an adult.

The officer gave you a break by charging you with doing 65.  You should have actually thanked him.  If he charged you with 86 mpg it would cost you a lot more.

As you're 18 the courts won't notify your parents of your conviction if and when you're convicted or remit your fine via mail.

  3. Not without contacting the court or making some sort of appearance.

  4. IF YOU PAY THE TICKET OFF YOU SHOULD BE FINEL.... CONTACT THE COURT TO SEE WHAT THE AMMOUNT OF THE TICKET IS.

  5. That is very unlikely. Only a small percentage of speeding tickets actually get dismissed.  The ones that do get dismissed are done for a reason. You gave no reason, other than your age and residence, which will not be taken into consideration.

  6. yes the cop was good to you but you can't beat the ticket or the points on your license and the insurance company already knows so pay the ticket and slow down unless your rich and don't give a c**p.
