I have a California driver's license, and while on a road trip, I received a speeding ticket in a small town in Idaho. It's an infraction and says that I can pay off the $75 by mail without showing up in court. But do I need to sign up for traffic school for this?

  1. Paying the $75 won't mean you have to go to traffic school.  But if you want to to avoid points on your license (and thus higher insurance rates) that would probably be a good decision.

Be careful about going to traffic school in one state for a ticket you got in another state.  I got a ticket in MO and asked if I could go to traffic school in IL.  "Sure!" they said.  So I did.  Afterwards they said "Oh, no...we don't count traffic school taken in Illinois, because theirs is only 4 hours and we require 8."  So I went and looked at those gory movies they make you watch for nothing.  Bah.

  2. You better if you don't want your insurance rates to sky rocket. I took an awesome Online class with http://www.TicketRelief.com. I was affordable, easy, and fast! Good luck!

  3. heck no! but u may want to check into it. different states, different laws apply!

  4. No.  Just pay the fine.
