Speedy Services will sponsor The Wales Senior Open for two years
The Wales Senior Open is returning to the European Senior Tour, with a new sponsor, Speedy Services, in August 2012.
Speedy Services is the Britain's leading equipment supplier that also offers support services to its customer. The company has agreed on a two-year sponsorship deal and the tournament will now be named as Speedy Services Wales Senior Open.
The event will be staged from August 24 to 26, 2012, at the Conwy Golf Club, Caernarvonshire in Conwy, Wales. All the leading players will be playing the upcoming event that has been given a new name and sponsor.
Another important aspect is a huge £250,000 purse. Such handsome figures will be appreciated by players, as they all would be making this tournament under this season schedule.
“We are thrilled to be sponsoring the Wales Senior Open and are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead," Steve McIntyre, the Speedy group Marketing Director said.
Andy Stubbs, the Managing Director of the European Senior Tour, is also happy to see the leading sponsor for the event in August. This will promote senior golf in Wales and will also boost the tourism in the country.
“We are delighted to have Speedy on board for the Wales Senior Open, a tournament which was created in 2001 as a legacy to Wales hosting the 2010 Ryder Cup and which returns to the Senior Tour schedule after a year’s absence with the support of the Welsh
Government’s Major Events Unit,” Stubbs said.
The tournament was announced as a result of a £5 million agreement between the Welsh Government, The European Tour and the R&A.
In return, it is also decided that The Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex will be staged in Wales in 2014. Wales will host the mega event for the first time and will also be promoting the tourism in the region.
The news is getting huge attention from the tour players, followers and spectators. Everyone has shown interest in the event.
It is also expected that the Speedy Services Wales Senior Open will attract a large number of crowd to the golf course because it is being staged on Bank Holiday.
