i have the Home and Office or student or something like that and the spell checker is not working. when i spell a word wrong, it wont be underlined in a red squiggle or the green one. nothing. and when i click the spell check icon, it says;

"Spelling and Grammer Check Complete.

Text marked with "Do not check spelling and grammer" was skipped"

it says that if there is a mispelled word.

i dont get that and i dont know how to undo it. if i dont get it fixed, it can hurt my grade on assignments.

and to spell check, i copy the document, go to microsoft power point and paste it there. then i do spell check. i dont like doing that and it does not correct grammer.

can someone please help me?

  1. Tools > Options > Spelling and Grammar.

    -MM

  2. I have 07 pro. I would check you settings. to do so, gp to the office button, and click word options.  After that, click proofing. Once you are in that area, look for a section called "When correcting spelling and Grammar in Word". Click check spelling as you type. That should be the first Option in that section. Then click OK. To test the spelling and Grammar, type a misspelled word, then click the spelling and grammar button and see what happens.

  3. 1. Verify settings in Word 2007:

    a. Open a document that has this problem, press Ctrl+A to select all of the text

    b. Click on Review tab | Proofing: Set Language | <choose your language> | uncheck the "Detect language automatically" and "Do not check spelling or grammar" boxes | Default | OK.

    c. Click on Office Button | Word Options | Proofing | check the "Check spelling as you type" and "Check grammar with spelling" boxes | uncheck the "Hide spelling errors in this document only" and "Hide grammar errors in this document only" boxes | OK.

    2. If the previous suggestion doesn't help, then in Word 2007 click on Office Button | Word Options | Add-Ins | Manage: Disabled Items. If you see any disabled items that relate to spelling, try enabling them.

    3. If the previous two suggestions don't help, then:

    a. Close Word.

    b. In your Windows registry, if the key

    "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\

Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Override" exists, delete it.

    c. Restart your computer.
