Question:

Spells and Lyrics? Help!?

I was watching 'Charmed' recently, and the youngest sister, Paige, said to her boyfriend (or whoever he was) in one episode that because she was now a witch, when she rhymes it becomes a spell (or something to that effect). If that is true, does that mean she can't sing songs since song lyrics rhyme?

Also, does this apply to real witchcraft / spells? As in you can't sing? Or do real spells not have to rhyme?

This got me really confused...please help!

  1. In the first place, Charmed is a television show and has nothing to do with real life.  Please remember that when watching shows of that nature.

When doing spells, it is the timing that counts.  A Witch can sing songs like anyone else and just enjoy the music.  But, if they are in the middle of performing a spell and sing a song, then that song would become a part of the spell.  But if they are just going about their day, they can sing songs, and say whatever they want without worrying that it will become a spell.

And no, real spells do not have to rhyme.

  2. Okay, Charmed is fake. It's a TV show. Rarely do they actually say anything that's real. While rhyming in a spell can be helpful, it not only isn't required but it doesn't mean that the spell will work. You need to have intent, a will to have it work.
