Spencer Fisher and Ross Pearson reportedly set to clash at UFC 127

The Ultimate Fighting Championships’ upcoming Australian card, UFC 127, is beginning to fill out as another bout is in the works. On Wednesday 24 November mmajunkie.com reported that Spencer Fisher is tentatively
scheduled to face Ross Pearson in the lightweight (155lb) division on the card.

The site also wrote that formal bout agreements had not been signed yet, but that they would be imminently. No information is available yet as to whether the Fisher-Pearson bout will be broadcast on the live
pay-per-view showing, or whether it would appear on the undercard.

Pearson may be fighting for his UFC job on this card. He won the ninth season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” a reality television program in which UFC hopefuls fight each other for a UFC contract. Though he won
the season finale to gain entry into the promotion, and then won his next two bouts, he was upset by Cole Miller on 15 September.

Another loss would give him two losses in a row, and leave him in danger of being cut from the UFC. The 26-year-old British fighter is 11-4 in his professional mixed martial arts career, and 3-1 in the UFC.

Fisher on the other hand is coming off of a recent win, over Pearson’s fellow countryman Kurt Warburton at UFC 120 in October.  Fisher has put together a 9-5 record with the UFC, but his own job isn’t necessarily
secure either. Before his victory over Warburton, he’d also lost two consecutive fights, and his fight before that was a highly contentious decision victory over Caol Uno that most commentators felt he should have lost.

Fisher-Pearson is the fifth fight said to be scheduled for the 10 or 11 fight card, which will be headlined by a welterweight (170lb) showdown between Jon Fitch and B.J “The Prodigy” Penn.
