Spending New Years in Hamburg...any suggestions on places to go...?

There is a group of us and we want somewhere lively where we will be able to have drinks and a dance but also get a good view of the city and fireworks etc at midnight....any suggestions?

check out the reeperbahn but take the elbe- jet boat around the city

I'd suggest spending midnight either at the port (St. Pauli Landungsbrücken - on the map "Old River Elbe Tunnel") or at the Inner Alster for enjoying the fireworks - here's a map offering some information:

In St. Pauli there's also the Reeperbahn, the red light district, but there are also many restaurants, bars, theatres, music clubs and discos.
