Spending a day in dublin- what are the best tours?

i'm going to england over the summer and we are taking a cheap flight to spend a day in dublin. any suggestions for the best tours / things to do in dublin? i'll be there from about 9 am - 7 pm.

I agree with the viking tours, its meant to be very good. Jump on the one of the tour buses, rememeber you are able to jump on and off all day with the same ticket at different sites.

Dublin bus tour will be the best it its call up o up on . but try to organize  another one as well to visit the monastery in Ireland you have to book for it tho

Pat LIddy is a famous Dublin historian and runs a guided walks company. I understand that his guides are extremely knowledgeable, and providing the weather is not wet, walking is one of the best ways to see Dublin.

The various hop-on, hop-off double-decked tour buses are another great way.

Avoid the Literary Walking Tour like the plague. Apparently, it is lead by irritating actor-types who get on everyone's nerves!!

no! don't go on the viking tour! it's ridiculous.

dublin has great hop-on, hop-off tours that are pretty interesting, and take you to most of the major landmarks in dublin. if you go to the dublin tourist office and buy a ticket, you can board the bus there or at trinity college, then ride the bus to get an idea of the city, and get off at whichever places you want to see. there are so many of these buses running that it's actually easier than using public transport. great way to see a LOT of dublin in not a lot of time.

national museums- history museum and national gallery- they are free and so you don't have to stay for hours to feel as though you've gotten your money's worth. the history musuem, which is right between trinity college and st. stephen's green, has excellent exhibits about bog people, vikings (so you can skip the awful viking tour), and ancient celts. plus, the national art gallery has a GREAT gallery on irish art.

as cheesy and 'touristy' as it sounds the open air bus tur is great. Take a stroll around Trinity college. I studied there and its pretty impressive. The bus tour is probably the best as it will squeeze loads of stuff in.
