Question:

Spending money for Vacation?

I'm going to Puerto Vallarta with my boyfriend for 8 days and since I've never been there, let alone on any vacation we've personally paid for, I don't know how much money to bring. The hotel and plane tickets are already paid for. Our hotel is not all inclusive, but does have a kitchen in the room. So we'll need money for most meals, souveniers, drinks, and some activities, (probably like 3-4) and most likely cab money? Any estimates, advice would help!! Thanks!

  1. Bring a few hundred dollars for your first few days.  After that, use ATMs to pull out the cash you need.

  2. My personal rule for spending money is to take $125-150/day of vacation (at a minimum). Should cover you for most expenses. And bring along a major credit card (just in case).

It might be a good idea to see if you can upgrade to all-inclusive.  My wife did this in the Bahamas, and believe me, it was well worth it.

  3. I would bring at least $300.  If that is not enough, the hotel will usually advance you some money on your credit card.
