  1. I spent there 6 month 2 years ago and then 5 days last Xmas and transport only in Munich + food for 5 evening I would plan to spend 150€ to cover everything.

Normal Cost of life is 30/50€ a day in Munich but with breakfast out and accomodation it will be more likely 25€/ day for you.

If you want other info don't hesitate to ask me

  2. Hi,

Munich is quite pricey, but you can also find cheaper places to eat. You should calculate 15-20 Euro for a nice dinner.

If you are satisfied with pizza or noodles, you can get along with 10-12 Euros.

Sitesighing doesn't cost that much. If you visit the museums on Sunday they cost only 1 Euro or are even free. During week more, aroudn 3-5 Euros, some museums more.

You should also calculate money for transport. Bets would be a weekly ticket. This costs around 14 Euros, depending where your host family lives.

  3. My rule of thumb has always been €100 per person per day allowance for overnight, food & sightseeing.  You are in a different situation with the overnight situation, so I would say that you could manage on €50 ($70)per day.

Munich is costlier than most larger cities, but the EURO/Dollar rate will be your biggest enemy this summer.

One rule of thumb - bring flowers (or similar) to your host mom when arriving.  That's part of the culture and shows your thanks prior to the 5 day stay.

  4. It depends mainly on what you want to eat for dinner.  Are you looking for sit-down restaurant with tablecloths and a sommelier?  Turkish pizza at  Formica table?  Bratwurst in a beer garden?

For travel and tourism, you can buy a 3-day pass (actually it's valid till 6am on the fourth day, so you can get back from a late pub crawl!) for unlimited travel on public transit and discounts on admission to museums etc.  It costs 18,80 Euros.  The one-day version costs 9,80.  A quick glance at the attractions shows entrance fees around the 5 Euro range, a Euro or two cheaper with the pass.

  5. seeing as munich is a tourist area it would probably cost around 10 - 20 euros per attraaction per person
