  1. The best thing in such cases is planning. Sit down with a spreadsheet and plan out your general meal ideas, and lunches to take to work, for the week. When you create a meal list, you will in essence be creating a grocery list. You don't have to worry about making pasta 5 days a week to save money. Make some fun dishes...enjoy cooking for your self. You'll find your grocery bill in the meanwhile will reduce dramatically.

Food is a pleasure...eating it...cooking it...smelling it. Enjoy your time at the grocers, picking out new items to try new dishes. Have fun cooking...put on some good music in the back ground and grab a glass of wine. If you have fun doing it, you will be more likely to stick to it, as opposed to approaching it like a chore.

    Have fun!

  2. Get hold of a cookbook aimed at students. I had one in my 1st year and learnt quite a lot about cooking cheaply... several years on and I no longer need it. Also, my food bills are down and I rarely get a take away as I can usually make what I would otherwise order myself!
