do you have to have been trying for a while in order to get a sperm count test??also is there any other way of telling if its high or low?

iv heard that most doctors are unwilling to help patients who havent been trying for over a year (ttc 8months).

also if we both wanted tests done would i go to my dr, or his dr??

im in the uk.

thank you so much

  1. Why don't you just tell them you have been trying for 12 months?

P.S I must add that there are sperm count tests you can buy on interset for £20

  2. If you can afford to go private then they will do the tests for you. The NHS will not put you forward for tests before you have been trying for 12 months as they think its a waste of NHS funds, I can think of a lot more that are wasting funds but that's not the point : )

if you want the test done now you'll have to go private

  3. if your gp is reluctant to give you the test i would suggest going to a fertility clinic as your results should come back quicker anyway although you would have to pay, also they can offer more tests at a later date if your partners sperm count isn't the problem

good luck and i hope your successful

  4. you would probably go to seprate doctors.

or a specialist so neither yours or his

  5. If you haven't been trying for very long, i suggest you keep trying. There might not be anything wrong with either of you. Or it just might not be the right time.

Also with the things as they are in the UK it's quite a tough time to have kids right now.

But i wish you all the best with your baby plans

  6. you can buy home sperm count tests from www.insemination-help.com for about £25 and check out the kits they sell as well.  it worked for me with my partners low sperm count.  good luck

  7. if the doctors wont help u, u can buy home fertility tests. If u check out acces diagnosis search it on google u can buy them from there. There not that expensive either.

  8. Getting a sperm count is a pretty simple procedure and as long as you are going to a private doctor, not a public health clinic, they should have no objection doing the job you are paying them for.
