Sperm can't live very long outside of the body. But inside, thats a  

different story. They can remain alive for up to 3 days inside the warm

moist  comfort of the v****a. Unless you're trying to conceive, I would

recommend you use a condom, or some other form of birthcontrol.

Douching after s*x will also help eliminate the sperm.

it depends on a number of factors, temp, surface it's on, how healthy it is to begin with, how mature it is, if it came in contact with anything.  at best i would think it could live a few minutes even longer if the environment supported it

If those swimmin' little buggers go straight from him to the inside of you without spending time on the outside...the average will last 24 to 48 hours.  It has been shown that some hangeroners...can last up to 4 days.  I read that once.  So, despite what people will tell you...I truely believe that its possible (if you work it right) to get pregnant from a toilet seat.  But then you would have to try...and do it as quickly as possible cuz sperm on the outside of your body will meet a quick fate.
