  1. volenteer in the community and join leadership roles in progams. Establish a good relationship with your teacher in case you need a letter of reconmindation. Start thinking about what your personal statement could sound like. Study for the SATs,PSATs,ACTs, SAT2s and retake them as many times as possible to get the best score. take classes that you know will challenge you but you know you can succeed in and try your best  :) If you dont think you can manage an AP class then try an Honors...but dont fill your schedule with elective coarses because many schools look past those grades

  2. Write about it in your personal statement. You can write how/why you got a low gpa and how because of that you learned/grew as a person and then did better and was more focused in your final three years. College admissions will take that into account, especially if it's compelling

  3. Do some volunteering work!!! Help out your communtiy and school; stuff like that.

Also, get involved in a club about music or the arts.

  4. 9th grade year is important, but not as important as 10th and 11th grade, you still have to time to turn things around. Try to take meaningful classes such as honors or even AP and IB. This will look good to colleges. I beleive that a B or C in an AP class is worth more than an A in a regular class. It shows that you are willing to challenge yourself. Also, try to take part in school activities such as performing arts/music and sports. Or join an afterschool club. Join a volunteer group in your community. Study for the SATs and ACTs. Remember, even though grades are important, they aren't the only thing taken into consideration. Colleges look for well rounded students that have a wide range of intrests.

    For example

Im in the AP program at my school, in the symphony orchestra, run cross country, and am in a volunteer gorup in my community.

  5. Let it go everyone seems to have a bad freshman year. Colleges know that people are going through hormonal changes which seriously alter the state of mind
