  1. get a second opinion(another vet to look at his leg)

  2. as long as it doesnt bother him and u like him when you ride him and all those other factors work out then i dont see why not...

my horse that i bought has a very obviously popped splint on the outside of his back leg and it doesnt bother him at all.... it's just a cosmetic blemish... but it's god awful looking... like a big bump on the side of his leg... lol... i love him tho... it actually looks kind of cool...

my other horse has major scarring on one of his front legs right above the hoof from when ( i think) he got his foot stuck in the fence... ouch... poor baby...

neways im ranting... what im trying to say is summarised in the first paragraph! lol

:) good luck! i hope he works out!

  3. If the scar is the only bad thing about this horse (he rides nicely, has a good temperment, etc.) I don't see any reason why you shouldn't consider this horse. I WILL, however, suggest that you get another opinion on the scar (preferably from your vet..or any vet as long as its a different one from the first one) just to make sure that it is, indeed, a scar from a spider bite...and not an injury scar or something along this line that could come back and haunt him in a big way as he ages.  Sometimes people will do ANYTHING to sell their horses, up to and including lying about their health/previous injuries.  I've seen it happen many times  Best to get that second opinion before you absolutely fall in love with this guy...because if it turns out to be something less innocent, it'll be that much harder to pass him up.
