Spider Identification?

This past summer I was camping with my friend in New Hampshire, almost in Vermont. We were swimming in a river and I had a spider on my leg and I TWEAKED out! The picture in the link below is the spider. It only has five legs because it was whacked around so much. It was about as big as the palm of my hand. If you know what kind it is please tell :)

    Have you tried googling 'images' of spiders to look for pictures?

    It looks freaky, I'm glad it wasn't on me!

  3. A "Fishing Spider" is the closest thing I've got in a book here. It's a brown one, but online there are others that are black. Since you were by the water, it may well have been. My book says the female can be up to an inch, but her leg-span can be up to three inches,

  4. Could have been a wolf spider, I've seen some huge ones, especially in the woods.  Fishing spider would be another possibility.
