Question:

Spider bites while sleeping?

For a couple of months now, i have been getting bit by what I suspect to be spiders. The reason I do NOT think that they are bed bugs or anything microscopic, is because I can see two little fang marks on me where each bite is. The fang marks are perfectly parallel and do not seem like two individual bites, more like one.

They are not very painful, maybe a bit itchy. Not a big deal of discomfort but is freaking me out.

These have occurred on my face an randomly on my body. not in clusters, and nothing similar to a rash. I live in Canada if this helps.

..I do see spiders in my house occasionally but nothing even close to an infestation (no nests or anything). EEk anyone else have this or know what to do?? I really appreciate it.

  1. Spider bites while sleeping are very rare. Do some research on the web and I think you will find an answer to your question.

  2. I have occasionally got spider bites while sleeping. They swell a little and can be annoying, but around here we don't have poisonous spiders.

Whatever it is, an exterminator can take care of it for you more safely than trying to spray pesticides yourself.

  3. I got bit by a spider in the city coming out of my shower and putting my shirt on (it was in it)  and it hurt like a YKW.  You would've woken up.

The 2 fang marks inflammed like a mosquito bite and it was sore for two days.  Like a wasp sting.

Wear leather gloves, have a broom nearby.  Change your sheets and your bedspread and pillowcases.  Vacuum EVERYWHERE, especially under your bed.  I would move the bed way out and lift the mattress and box spring (are they living inside the boxspring?  Usually it is sealed, any openings?).  Then, I would do the same deep cleaning for the rest of your bedroom.

I would spray around the foundation perimeter of your house and cut back any vegetation that prevents you.  Also spray the fireplace vent openings and the ceiling vents under your eves.  You'll need a pump sprayer to do this (Get one at Home Depot).  Also wear safety googles and a breathing mask for painting (spraying poison it dangerous to breathe).

Whenever you reach under something you can't see.  Don't do it!  Get a flashlight or gloves or look under first.  That is where spiders hide.

If you find one, the best spider-killing weapon is a straw broomstick.  You stick them with the straws and it breaks their exo-skeletons and kills them.  If they survive that onslaught, use the stick-side to crush them (I usually bring a 'dirty' stick, so I don't have to get too near the crushed poison part---I have a lot of black widows here).
