So I open up my blinds (for the first time in a long time) to a window in my bedroom, and I notice a HUGE spider. He has like a 1-inch body (abdomen, head, etc), 8 LONG legs (though he uses his front two as feelers I suppose), and 2 really scary looking antennae with like bulb-y things on the end of them. He's dark brown with mahogany stripes and he seems to be trapped between my window sill (mesh-y stuff to keep stuff from coming in when I open my windows) and my window. There is about a 2-3 inch gap between the two. He's been searching for a way out at least since I first started watching him.
He seems to have forgotten how he got in. What I'm even more scared of is the possibility that he grew up in my windowsill and has just been growing bigger since. However, there is no spider web in my window sill so the likelihood of that is slightly diminished than I originally thought.
My problem is, I'm really scared of the thing. He seems to be scared of me too because he freaks and plays dead every time I make a noise. I've been watching for the better part of an hour and trying to keep him off the glass in case he finds an opening to come inside. So long as he doesn't try to, I won't try to kill him. I thought opening the window a bit might make him try harder to find his way out (the way he came in), but he can't seem to find it.
I'm really scared of him so I don't want to open it up and trap him so that I can let him out. I'm afraid that he might slip out of my grip and disappear in my house. However, if I ever want to open my window ever again (which occurs from time to time), the spider has got to leave. Looks like he won't die by just living there since bugs that fit through the mesh will come in and he can survive off them (some lady bugs found their way in and their bodies are decaying on the sill. Gross!) and there is plenty of air blowing in.
How do I rid of him without opening the window (and trapping him) or killing him?
